True Core August Happenings

With the start of a new month, True Core has several different exciting things coming your way! TWO NEW PROGRAMS are beginning this month at True Core. MomFit and CompTraining will now be regular added options for our members!

Our MomFit program is designed to empower both expecting and postpartum moms.  MomFit not only addresses the changes that occur during pregnancy & child birth, but also offers support and guidance for your individual needs.  Numerous members of our community and staff have experienced the joys and trials that come with becoming a Mom.  As a result we have developed this program to help members of our community adjust to life post baby. We have options such as altering already programmed workouts, and designed custom training cycles just for you! Contact us for more information, or to schedule your consultation!

True Core CompTraining will be a 8-week class taking place on Sunday afternoons from 12- 2 pm. This bi-weekly extended class is meant to help simulate the experience of a CrossFit competition. Each class will look like the following:

  1. Warm-up – 15 minutes
  2. Explanation and tips for WOD 1 examples include – 15 minutes
    • Work to rest ratios
    • Barbell cycling
    • Transitions between movements
    • Team transitions
    • Efficient movement patterns (strict vs. kipping, power vs. squat, etc)
    • Scoring potential
  3. WOD 1 –Likely in partners or teams of 3-4 – 10-20 minutes
    • Put the skills and tips developed in previous session to the test during competition style WOD
  4. Recover and Review of the strengths and weaknesses of WOD 1 – 20 minutes
    • Identify areas that can be changed via improved training vs. areas that can be changed with improved technique
    • Like a competition setting, athletes will need to learn how to recover and prepare for the next event in a short period of time
  5. Explanation and tips for WOD 2 examples include – 15 minutes
  6. WOD 2 — Likely in partners or teams of 3-4 – 10-20 minutes
    • Put the skills and tips developed in previous session to the test during competition style WOD
  7. Recover and Review of the strengths and weaknesses of WOD 2 – 20 minutes
    • Identify areas that can be changed via improved training vs. areas that can be changed with improved technique
  8. Mobilize – 10 minutes

This is not a replacement for regular programming, but a supplement to help athletes reach their full potential in a competitive setting. The goal of this programing is to help train athletes to be successful in the sport of CrossFit to help compete in events such as the MAAC, TruePaw, Backyard Barbell Brawl and other CrossFit competitions. Lastly, True Core will be having a BEACH DAY Saturday Aug 25th. We will be taking our fitness outside, enjoying the sun, sand, and water of the local Epping Forest beach. Morning classes will be canceled, but there is promised to be a surprise WOD down on the waterfront. We strong encourage you to bring your swim suit, as the workout might have a little bit of swim component to it…… Bring your family, friends, neighbors, who ever! This is open to everyone, no matter the experience or fitness level. Afterwards hang out with the True Core Crew and continue to enjoy the amazing community each one of you have helped build.
