The True Core Barbell Club is the answer to the Annapolis Community’s question: “How can I get stronger?”. Good old-fashioned barbells, iron and work combine with expert coaching (Certified by USAPL and USAW) and programming to assist CrossFitters, Powerlifters, Weightlifters and the Average Joe/Jane towards their strength, sport and life goals. Our official U.S. A. Weightlifting Barbell Club is made up of dedicated and motivated coaches and lifters of all levels who want to become stronger. The coaches of TCBC offer training for competitions but also tailor programming towards individuals wanting to increase strength for everyday life and CrossFit WODs. Our main goal is to promote a healthy and active lifestyle that will encourage strength and fitness.
TCBC offers two programs:
True Core Powerlifting Program
TCBC’s Powerlifting Class uses various methods to achieve maximal strength improvements for all athletes no matter their skill level The three power lifts (Squat, Bench, and Deadlift) are trained in each wave and tested once per cycle. TCBC blends long term strength development with the modern Westside method to allow year round training. Barbell club is a great addition to any WOD, and can aid in achieving basic strength need for CrossFit movements.
Powerlifting Classes meet on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 6:00 pm

True Core Olympic Lifting Program
Our Olympic Weightlifting Class is coached by Alex Lee of the USNA’s Strength and Conditioning staff and Coach Ryan Burns. The class will focus on refining and training the two Olympic Lifts: The Snatch and the Clean and Jerk. Accessory movements are also trained in order to help with the progression of the snatch and clean & jerk. Olympic lifting helps increase max power output that can be seen in explosive movements in sport or any typical WOD. By training the Olympic lifts we are helping members understand how to utilize their whole body as one strong powerful unit
